There are many ways to solve multiplication problems. The Area Model is one of the best strategies I know because it builds on using arrays and is very visual, which supports a deep understanding of the operation. It also connects well with the steps taken, and logical reasoning, in Partial Product multiplication. So if we use both to solve a problem we can see clear connections.
